| Calvary is perhaps the
best know mountain in the Bible. There have been songs written about
it. Movies based upon it, and testimonies detailing its mysteries.
It is an important place to every Christian and the name is synonymous
to Salvation in our ears.
In reality however, Calvary was not a mountain at all. The name "Mount Calvary" is not in the Bible at all. The single word Calvary is there. It means "place of the skull" in its Hebrew translation. In fact, with the exception of the Mount of Oliver, there is nothing near the vicinity of Jerusalem itself is a mountain Mt. Zion, but there was no mountain in Jerusalem called Mt. Calvary.
