      When is it the easiest to demonstrate a spirit of joy? Usually, we find it easy to demonstrate joy during times when things are going as well or better than we planned. We are joyful when we have accomplished a difficult task, achieved a difficult goal or acquired a long sought after item. We are joyful when we feel loved, respected and appreciated by our peers and loved ones. We are joyful when we have a little money in our pockets and we can stand on our own two feet. Joyfulness is a unique quality that everyone does not have, but many seek in the course of their lives.

      The occasions of our joy reflect our understanding. As a general rule we are joyful when we are pleased with the outcome. The believer goes one step further, expressing a joy that issues from a faith that says, "Whatever makes God happy brings me joy regardless of the circumstance for me."

      No two people will interpret a joyful situation the same. Consider the man who sat at the bar drinking one whiskey after another until it became obvious to the bar tender that he was about to hurt himself. The bar tender asked, "What's the matter? Are you having troubles with your wife again?" The man
