| What is the most important thing in life? The
answers to that question vary depending upon the individual asked. To some,
the most important thing in life is to be successful. To others,
the essence of really living is to be rich. There are still others
who contend that the most important thing in life is to be happy and content.
The responses to the question continue endlessly and vary depending upon
the person who answers the question.
For many people the pursuit of happiness is equated with the possession of as many things as possible. The more "things" a person owns the happier and more successful a person is perceived to be. To acquire "things" we need money. Thus, for some, the pursuit of money as a means to acquire more, bigger and better possessions becomes a life pursuit. The recent movie by "Ice Cube" entitled "All about the Benjamins" depicted individuals who were willing to kill or steal to acquire diamonds and a $60 million lottery ticket. Getting the Benjamin's, a street reference to one hundred dollar bills, became the goal of the movie's central character. A few decades ago, the O'Jays produced a hit record that is still sung today entitled, "For the Love of Money." They said people will sell their bodies, murder and steal for the love of money. It's all about the Benjamins. For an increasing number of people life, is "All about the Benjamins." It is about making money and getting money. It's about "Banking." By any means necessary.
